Abstract:

If things go to plan, Dave Thomas will contend that we are looking at emerging technology wrongly. By definition, newer will be worse than older, at least in the short term. And yet we jump like lemmings off the bright and shiny cliff. So how do we find a balance?

Of course, things never go to plan.

About Dave:

Dave Thomas has been programming since the 70’s, and still codes just about every day. He has written a number of books, including The Pragmatic Programmer, Programming Ruby, Agile Web Development with Rails, and most recently Programming Elixir.

These books reflect the arc of his interests — programming, dynamic languages, DSLs, and now functional and concurrent languages.
