Event Overview
The Linux operating system celebrates its 30th birthday this year. Even if you don’t directly use Linux as your primary operating system, it’s all around you: in cloud services, embedded devices, and many servers that power the Internet as well as even many wireless routers. Operating systems such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and many others are Linux-based. Many Docker container images use Linux. In short, it’s everywhere.
Many developers aren’t aware of the history behind open source operating systems, why and how Linux was created, how it was created as a direct result of the open source software movement, and the impact Linux has had on the software community and wider culture.
Join Chariot Solutions as we review our own history with Linux and Open Source over the last 20 years, and as we discuss the future of Open Source with Nithya Ruff, Executive Director, Open Source Office, Comcast and Chair, Linux Foundation Board of Directors.
