Chariot Solutions Revamps IONA® Technologies Open Source Website

Chariot Solutions, an IT consulting firm specializing in application development and systems integration using Java and open source technologies,
announces that it was recently chosen by IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA) to upgrade the company’s open source website.
Both the back end of the website and the user interface needed to be more flexible and robust. Navigational logistics needed revamping as well, so that
end-users could better take advantage of the company’s offerings.
When asked why Chariot Solutions was chosen to develop and deploy IONA’s open source website upgrades, Deborah Moynihan, Director, Open Source Programs,
IONA stated, “We selected Chariot because we totally trust their people. We knew that we needed a consulting organization capable of quickly rolling out
the upgrades, without the glitches usually associated with a project such as this. Chariot is very familiar with community sites, so they didn’t need any
explanation as to what we were trying to build. In short, they ‘got it’ right away. They brought the latest and greatest open source and proprietary
technologies to the project, making the entire process a lot less painful than it might otherwise have been.”
Don Coleman, Consultant, Chariot Solutions agrees that the project required flexibility and determination. “Basically,” said Coleman, “we hit the ground
running. We used Ruby on Rails, Radiant CMS, and a number of Atlassian products to develop user registration features, single sign-on and product download.
These tools also allowed us to integrate with our CRM software and to develop collateral management capabilities on the back end. On the front end, we worked
closely with Margin Left, an up-and-coming web design and development firm that deeply understands the community and what a website needs to do to be successful.”
Development of the project is ongoing as Chariot works on developing the product management and events registration sectors of the site.
Says Moynihan, “Chariot went live within 45 days of starting this project with a dynamic, highly functional open.iona.com community site and they continue to
roll out new capabilities like better blog aggregation, improved search, and easier navigation for our community members as it’s developed. It doesn’t get better
than that.”
