Tracey Welson-Rossman Named 2020 Advocate of the Year at NYC Women in IT Awards

The Women in IT Awards has announced that Tracey Welson-Rossman is the winner of the 2020 Advocate of the Year Award. The Chariot Solutions CMO and TechGirlz founder was recognized at the top of her field for going above and beyond to support the cause of getting more women and girls in IT. The award ceremony, held October 29, 2020 virtually, shines a light on those who break digital boundaries, promote the importance of diversity, and push for a more inclusive tech sector. Women in IT is an internationally recognized organization with a global reach.

Welson-Rossman, who founded TechGirlz to promote future female technologists, said that this award goes to the whole TechGirlz team. As a passionate promoter of diversity and inclusion in the tech workforce, Welson-Rossman said, “Girls and women can use tech to be disruptors and innovators, and society shouldn’t think that’s unusual. Women will be accepted as business leaders when it’s no big deal to see a woman in the role of a business leader or technologist.”

In addition to her role as Chief Marketing Officer at Chariot Solutions, Welson-Rossman serves on the advisory board of the Women in Tech Summit, board member of Creating IT Futures, as well as on the advisory board of the newly formed Future Works Alliance, a group that advocates for a more inclusive workforce. She also writes for Women@Forbes showcasing women who use tech to innovate in their industries.

“Technology is not just about coding. That is only one piece. We need to do a better job bringing technology learning into all aspects of education so girls and young women understand that technology is part of their future and our future, too. We have certainly learned from the pandemic how important tech is to all aspects of our lives.”
