WXPN Launches New Android Mobile App
PHILADELPHIA, PA (SEPTEMBER 11, 2012) – WXPN, the nationally-recognized leader in Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) music and noncommercial radio service of the University of Pennsylvania, has launched a free streaming mobile app for Android devices.
The new Android mobile app joins XPN’s previously-introduced iPhone app and its online Media Player in providing live, around the clock and on-the-go listening experiences for anyone using a mobile device. It is available in the Apps section of Google Play.
Users of Android mobile devices can stream XPN and XPN2 (XPN’s indie, alternative, and modern rock online music service), and enjoy such award-winning national and local original programming as XPN’s national, NPR-distributed World Cafe program and its wildly popular Free at Noon weekly live concert broadcast.
“Our new Android app allows us to further connect artists with audiences by providing more opportunities for musical discovery,” said WXPN General Manager Roger LaMay. “With these mobile apps, listeners need never miss a minute of their favorite XPN artists, programs and DJs.”
The Android app was built by Chariot Solutions, a mobile development consulting firm based in Fort Washington, Pa. Don Coleman, Director of Mobile Development, said, “Chariot’s previous work with developing Android apps allowed us to implement this app quickly. We are happy to help WXPN reach more of their listeners.”
