Abstract
Last night your biggest client couldn’t access their account. It’s now 9 AM, and in a half hour you, your boss, and the VP of Client Support are going to get on a call with that client. Can you explain what went wrong and the steps you’re taking to make sure it doesn’t happen again?
“Observability” is the umbrella term for know what’s happening in your code when you’re not around. In this talk, Keith Gregory looks at the three pillars of observable systems, the tools that exist to make your systems observable, and the techniques that let you get the most our of these tools. We’ll wrap up with “observability culture,” and how your team can be prepared for that client call.
